In general, I think the status of Weihai dialect is good and should be maintained. Under the background of internet communication and social media, it is really helpful and convenient for the language or dialect to be known by more and more people. If the language can be used in movies or TV series, more people can get to be familiar with it and even grow interest in this language and want to learn Weihai dialect. Another phenomenon that we should pay attention to is that children speak Mandarin at school instead of Weihai dialect, some of them even do not want to speak the dialect. I think this is not good for the maintenance of the language. So we should create an atmosphere for the children to speak Weihai dialect outside of the school. For example, we can write to the Bureau of Culture or school officials to suggest them to organize some Weihai dialect activities for the students.
