Orthography

Bhojpuri is written using Devanagari, not only in Nepal and India, but also in places where Bhojpuri has spread due to colonization and indentured servitude (Mauritius, the Caribbean, etc). Historically, Kaithi was used instead, and may still be found in use in overseas populations, especially in informal contexts.
