My
name is Pelagio Doutel. I am from East Timor. The language that i grow
up speaking is Wai ma'a, - also called Wai moa, Wai mu'a or Wai
mo'a- becuase both of my parents are Wai ma'a speakers. I am currently
pursuing a bachelor degree in communication. I am interested in
learning languages and I love playing soccer.
It has been a great experience to take part in the Language
Documentation program. It provides not only an opportunity to learn
different cultures and languages but also to be more aware of my
own language in the first hand and be able to see from the academic
perspective about the
concept of my own language. My goal in life is to be a citizen of hope
and I believe one way to do it is by preserving my culture and share
the richness
that it has. |
