ABOUT ME AND THE LANGUAGE
Hello,
my name
is Juan (Julie) Wang, and I’m a Ph.D student in Linguistics. I
come from Wuhan
city, the central part of China and I’m a speaker of Xishui
Dialect.
Xishui
dialect
is mainly spoken by people in Xishui county,
which is located in the
east of
Wuhan city. It has been classified as Jianghuai
Mandarin, a sub-dialect of the Northern Dialect of Chinese.
Dialects spoken
by people in the areas along the Yang-tze River in Anhui Province and
Jiangxi
Province, and areas in most Northern parts adjacent to the Yang-tze
River in
Jiangsu Province and the lower parts in Nanjing city are regarded as Jianghuai Mandarin.
